Independently Owned, Independent Thinking

Who We Are

Summit Asset Management is a boutique investment management firm based in Barbados, successfully serving high-net-worth and institutional clients over the past two decades. With one of the largest investment teams in the Caribbean, we design, implement, and manage bespoke investment solutions tailored to the unique objectives of our global client base.

As our business continues to grow, strengthening financial governance and building a finance function that can support the firm’s strategic objectives has become a leadership priority.

What You’ll Do

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Manager to serve as a senior financial professional within the organization.

Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will oversee the firm’s financial management, accounting, regulatory compliance, treasury activities, and finance operations. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information while helping leadership make informed business decisions.

This role is designed to provide meaningful leverage to senior management by taking ownership of recurring finance reporting processes, managing the delivery of reporting packages, and driving continuous improvement across finance and administrative workflows.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Strategic Financial Management

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis activities.
  • Develop financial models and provide decision-support analysis for executive leadership.
  • Prepare and coordinate monthly management reporting packages and performance analysis.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to support strategic decision-making.
  • Present concise, decision-ready financial insights and recommendations.

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee complex account reconciliations and financial close processes.
  • Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Review recurring finance reports and supporting schedules prior to executive review.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of client reporting deliverables and related supporting documentation.

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Manage corporate tax, VAT, payroll tax, and statutory filing obligations.
  • Coordinate external audits and audit-related documentation requests.
  • Liaise with external auditors, accountants, tax advisors, and regulators.
  • Maintain compliance calendars and reporting deadlines.
  • Escalate material compliance, regulatory, or risk matters appropriately while independently resolving routine issues.

Banking & Treasury Management

  • Monitor liquidity and cash positions.
  • Manage banking relationships and account administration.
  • Review and authorize significant payments within delegated authority limits.
  • Support treasury and investment-related cash management activities.

Team Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Supervise and mentor junior finance and administrative team members.
  • Review and approve work completed by junior staff.
  • Develop procedures, training materials, and standard operating practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and reporting quality.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with internal stakeholders across the business.

AI-Enabled Finance Leadership

At Summit, approved AI tools are already part of how the firm functions day to day, used to speed up analysis, drafting, and routine reporting while every output stays under human review. The Finance Manager is expected to set the standard for how that judgment is applied within the Finance function.

You will be expected to:

  • Utilise approved AI tools to enhance analysis, reporting, drafting, and operational workflows.
  • Apply rigorous review standards to all AI-assisted outputs.
  • Develop AI-ready templates, checklists, and standard work procedures.
  • Promote responsible AI usage, confidentiality, and good data governance practices.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes and improve efficiency across the finance function.
  • Maintain clear documentation and audit trails for material decisions and reporting outputs.

Who You Are

You are a finance professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with commercial awareness and sound judgment. You enjoy solving problems, improving processes, and helping leadership make informed decisions through accurate and insightful financial reporting.

You take ownership of outcomes without waiting to be asked, and you move comfortably between the detail of a reconciliation and the bigger picture it feeds into. You can explain the same set of numbers to an auditor, to an executive, and to a colleague outside finance, and you treat every recurring process as something that can be improved.

You operate with integrity, particularly when handling sensitive financial information, and have the confidence to challenge assumptions, identify risks, and recommend better ways of working.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory, management, or team leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing audits, tax compliance, and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Advanced financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience leveraging AI and technology tools to improve productivity and reporting processes.
  • Experience within financial services, investment management, insurance, or other regulated environments would be an advantage.

Why Join Us?

  • Report directly to executive leadership in a boutique firm where finance recommendations reach the decision-makers directly.
  • Lead and shape the finance function within a dynamic investment management business.
  • Be involved in strategic decision-making and business planning.
  • Drive meaningful operational improvements through technology, automation, and AI.
  • Benefit from a collaborative and professional working environment.
  • Attractive remuneration package and opportunities for continued professional development.
