BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, June 28, 2024 – New President of BIBA, the Association for Global Business, Marlon Yarde has set his sights on ensuring that the association “remains a vital and influential organization within the global business community in Barbados.”
Following his re-election to the Board of Directors at the Association’s Annual General Meeting held at the Marriott Courtyard, Hastings, Christ Church on the evening of June 26, Mr. Yarde set out a four-point set of priorities geared toward ensuring the viability of the association over the next year and into the future.
Mr. Yarde promised to: “advocate for favorable policies and regulations that support the growth and sustainability of global business in Barbados; ensure the financial health of BIBA through comprehensive strategic, business, and financial planning targeting diverse revenue streams and cost-effective resource allocation; increasing membership numbers and enhancing member engagement to build a strong, supportive community within the association; and continuously improving the services offered by BIBA to ensure they meet the evolving needs of its members and add significant value to their businesses.”
Mr. Yarde, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of and General Manager of the Barbados Stock Exchange, has been joined on the BIBA Board by professionals from the banking and wealth management, international insurance, and corporate services industries. Returning to the board of directors are: First Vice President Ms. Joanna Austin of Fraser Law; Second Vice President Ms. Dionne Knight of Manufacturers P&C (Manulife Re); Treasurer Sabrina Maynard of Clarke Gittens Farmer Attorneys-at-Law; Secretary Ms. Sharalee Gittens of the Bank of Nova Scotia’s Offshore Banking Unit; and Directors Ms. Connie Smith of Vistra (Barbados), Ms. Glenna Smith of Smith Compliance Consulting, Mr. Christopher Gregory of the FigTree Financial Group, Nikita Gibson of Clarity Life Insurance, Stephen Robinson of Sagicor Life Inc. and Ms. Lana Fingall of the Bank of Nova Scotia, Offshore Banking Unit. . Joining the board for the first time is Mr. Dwane Pitcairn of Marsh Management Services (Barbados). Mr. Jamar Arthur-Selman of Centralis (Barbados) will continue to serve on the board in an ex-officio capacity as past president.
