Discussions have commenced between officials of Barbados and Australia to agitate a double taxation agreement, according to Australian High Commissioner to Barbados, Philip Kentwell.
At a recent reception at the Tapas Restaurant to mark the end of a two-week training programme held in Australia, in collaboration with the Barbados Government and the University of the West Indies, he noted that the two countries are looking to further strengthen their diplomatic ties, established in 1974.
“We are seeing greater numbers of Barbadian officials coming to Australia and vice versa, and underlining this relationship has been the establishment of a consulate here,” he stated.
Speaking ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting that will also take place in Australia later this year, he said that in addition to this international conference, there will be two other meetings – one of Australia-Caricom foreign ministers and another focusing on small state issues where 17 small, non-Commonwealth countries would be invited.
