GOVERNMENT will present the Annual Budgetary Proposals and Financial Statements next Tuesday August 16th at 4:00 pm.
Leader of Government Business and Minister of Transport and Works, John Boyce made the announcement at the end of the sitting of the Lower House yesterday that Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Chris Sinckler will deliver the Statement.
Government will at that time outline its strategy for dealing with various economic matters and no doubt address the concerns caused by the recent downgrade of the United States credit rating and ongoing stock troubles in the European Union and Asia.
Opposition Leader Owen Arthur will reply on Wednesday August 17th at 4:00 pm.
Speaker of the House His Honour Michael Carrington announced that the first meeting of the Joint Select Committee to deal with the Prevention of Corruption Bill will be this Friday August 19th at 2:30 pm in the Senate Chamber. Members of the House on the Committee, the Speaker stated, are Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs and St. Philip South M.P., Adriel Brathwaite; Minister of Housing and Lands and St. Philip North M.P., Michael Lashley; Minister of Transport and Lands and Christ Church South M.P., John Boyce; Minister of Family, Youth, Culture and Sports and Christ Church West Central M.P., Stephen Lashley; Minister of Health and St. James South M.P., Donville Inniss; Deputy Opposition Leader and St. Joseph M.P., Dale Marshall and St. James North M.P., Rawle Eastmond.
